INTRO

Be immersed in Taoist religion and practices by joining local devotees on a pilgrimage walk. Climb Mount Huashan in Xi’an, one of China’s five sacred Taoist mountains. Experience the remarkable views alongside local believers and come to understand the beliefs of Taoism through this interactive experience.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Start by heading to Huashan (Flower Mountain) in the early morning. Though less popular, Mount Huashan is one of the five sacred Taoist mountains and offers superb views of sharp peaks.

While it is usually a sacred pilgrimage for devout Taoist believers, this is also a popular location for couples who come to seal their relationships by attaching locks to the rocks at the summit.

Begin the ascent by heading to the northern peak (altitude 1615m) via cable car and then trek to the eastern Peak, admiring the breathtaking views along Blue Dragon Ridge. Once at the east peak, choose to either turn back or complete the full loop that passes through the south peak, west peak and back to the north peak, before taking the cable car back down. As trails are narrow, caution must be exercised on the steep stairs and sandy pathways.

(Note: The loop takes between 3 and 5 hours, depending on personal pace. We recommend bringing plenty of drinks, snacks, and a good pair of walking boots.)

Upon arrival at the foot of the mountain, be transferred back to Xi’an by car.

Optional: This walk can be started from the western peak to the northern peak. Please ask our travel consultants for more details.
