INTRO

Explore Beijing’s iconic Forbidden City in a family-friendly way. Take part in a treasure hunt, seeking out special symbols found amid the 9,999 buildings of the compound. As the guide explains the site’s history and legends, listen carefully for clues. Then race through the Forbidden City to find the answers. 

PROGRAM DETAILS

Take off for a fun, educational trip to the Forbidden City. Travel by public transport, getting a taste of local Beijing life on the way. (Note: The Forbidden City limits the number of visitors to 80 thousand/day. To register, a copy of each visitor’s passport must be submitted at least 11 days in advance. To ensure a booking we recommend applying at least 2 weeks in advance. Once the visit has been confirmed, it is not possible to change or modify the date. The original passport must be shown at the monument on the day of the visit in order to pass through security.)

Upon arrival, kids will be presented with a smartphone equipped with WeChat app. They will also be given a list of symbols that they must find during the day’s tour. Kids will need to pay attention to the guide’s information as it will be full of clues to help them complete their treasure hunt.

The tour will focus on the three main parts of the Forbidden City. Start with the official palaces and hear tales of the lavish ceremonies and important government meetings that were held within these walls. Continue to the imperial lodges which are surrounded by beautiful, impeccably maintained gardens. The third section of the City is the public areas with buildings such as temples and libraries.

During this tour, the guide will give hints that relate to the Forbidden City’s history, design, and legends. Kids can then use these hints to uncover the location of their assigned symbols. Once finding the answer amid the buildings and gardens, they need to take a photo and send it via phone back to our office. The team will be available to assist and encourage the kids. After this fun-filled game, a present will be awarded to each participant.
